2. What do you think was going on in the disciples’ minds as they watched Jesus enter Jerusalem?

. Perhaps jealousy of all the attention he was getting. Perhaps wondering how he could ride an untamed foal, and why the Jenny (it’s mother) didn’t defend it. Perhaps caught up in the excitement of the parade.

He said that he is going to die in Jerusalem why would you go if you know you are going to die?
They would also have been confused because there is so much hatred in Jerusalem.

In several instances, the disciples still seemed to be expecting Jesus to be an earthly king. Perhaps they had the same thoughts and feelings as the crowd, that this is the beginning of his rise to power.

Great answers! Yes... - it's surprising the foal and Jenny put up with this, at least to this city kid - why would he choose to go when he's told them they're going to kill him there?!? - I would think the day would be exciting and exhilarating. If you had just a little bit of hope that Jesus would be a powerful ruler and restore Israel to dominance like under King David, it'd be easy to get caught up in the crowds. Jesus would be a great king, wouldn't he?

I think too that they would have had some very conflicting emotions of excitement and enthusiasm vs. confusion and uncertainty. This is a teacher and King who is always turning things upside-down, so what is He going to do and what is going to happen this time? Probably they were to some extent disappointed in themselves that Jesus had been teaching them -- teaching them things beyond what he taught and explained to the crowds -- yet they still didn't really get it. There may have been some "just what am I getting myself into" fear in following someone who is going into a city where he said he was going to be mocked, beaten, then die.
