4. Many observers of our time in history have called this the post-Christian era. Such a designation implies that the power of Christianity has come and gone. How do the events of Jesus’ triumphant entry into Jerusalem remind us that the power of our Lord is still present?

HE comes in power like a King but also as a commoner riding on a Donkey.
The people of the time look back to the time of David, we are always looking for Christ in our lives through his word. If the time of Christianity has come and gone, why would people still be dying for him.

What Jesus did then is still applicable today. We're still talking about it today. He wasn't an earthly king then or now--he's a heavenly king.

I would disagree that labeling our time in history as "post-christian" implies that the power of Christianity is gone. It is more of a statement that the general acceptance of Christianity as truth has come and gone. The people of Jesus day had been looking for a savior. They may have been looking for a savior from their earthly troubles, but when they saw their savior, they rejoiced. Even if the rest of society doesn't see Jesus as a savior, we do. We can and should still rejoice as we remember this time of him riding in to win the battle.

Nick - thanks for rejecting the statement that "the power of Christianity has come and gone." You're right that Jesus is the Savior. He is still the power to change hearts, lives, and history. His entry into Jerusalem clearly puts his power, humility, and mercy on full display.

Although Jesus had a humble entrance into Jerusalem that Palm Sunday, he nonetheless commanded the situation and he was worshiped with joy. People still rejoice in Jesus, still look to Him as their Savior, still read his Word and talk about Him, still gather to study and worship and sing His praises. God's Word still has the power to save souls. We just saw in this week's email another soul baptized and added to His kingdom.
