1. This account illustrates Jesus’ complete power and complete humility at the same time.
a. How does it show Jesus’ power?
b. How does it show Jesus’ humility?

1. He tamed the foal 2. A king would want to be on a decorated white stallion, prancing gracefully and majestically.

1. He knew exactly where the foal was at, he also knew what the people would say. 2. Same as stated above
question Were kings in that day ridding on Donkeys or Horses? Because if it was horses it shows that Jesus chose the lesser animal.

Thanks for the answers! And, thanks for the question.
The Israelite kings and leaders did not have a history of riding on donkeys in procession or in general, so it doesn't seem Jesus is trying to imitate them.
You might consider with Jesus' choice of animal... it was an animal that had never been ridden on. With the "unridden" there is an element of sacredness/purity and wildness. Jesus is the pure and holy Son of God set aside for his work of salvation. Jesus has been "wild." He is unpredictable - doing and saying unexpected surprising things.

Pastor
Thank you for your really insightful answer regarding Jesus riding on a donkey versus a horse. Very helpful.

a. This account shows Jesus' complete power in that he was in complete control of the situation. He knew exactly what he needed, where it could be found, when it could be found, who would participate, and how various pe0ple would react. b. His humility is shown in that he didn't have a PR manager or event planner or expense account. He didn't have other people to get him dressed. There was no makeup artist, no band or guest performers, no food trucks and porta-potties along the parade route. He rode on a humble work animal, a poor-man's "horse", and one that was wild, unbroken, and potentially very unpredictable because it was a colt with no previous training. That young animal's instinct would be to follow its mother or seek her. Jesus' humility is shown in that it probably also wasn't a very comfortable ride.
