3. In these verses we see a very bold Jesus. He did not shrink from the truth, even when he knew he was in great danger. How do these verses inspire us to be bold in the confession of the truth of Christianity?

No matter what the world says to us / about us / we still need to be professing Jesus and His love for the world. The world will not be the winner. Jesus will.

He questions the religious leaders and back in that day no one would questioned them they would trust that they would give them the correct answer and lead them where they needed to go.

Becky - I like how you note that Jesus and the Word are what "grade" us. As a dearly loved child of God, you already know how you "grade" out in his book. As a child of God, you this world and your life through his Book. His Word is what determines what is good and right.
Weber family - thanks for your emphasis on testing everything through the Word of God. "Because God says ____" is so emboldening for a Christian.

Jesus knew that his earthly life was in danger, but that it was only earthly life. In the sense of his deity, you can't kill God. His eternal destiny is secure. Because of His sacrifice and the gift of faith, our eternal destiny is also secure. We are part of His heavenly kingdom. He has also told us to expect suffering for His sake here on earth. Peter reminds us in his first epistle that suffering now means all the more glory in eternity. Like Jesus, we should keep our eyes on His kingdom and not an earthly kingdom. Our standing up for the truth keeps the fire of faith burning in ourselves and stands as a witness to others, just as when Paul's preaching and teaching even while imprisoned encouraged others to also be bold in speaking the truth. If we don't speak out, who will? He doesn't say you might be my witnesses if it seems safe. He says you WILL be my witnesses, and take up your cross and follow me, and blessed are those who are persecuted for my name's sake.
